The cathedrals and monasteries Kyiv is known for, and what each one asks of you.

Pechersk Lavra

The Monastery of the Caves, a working monastery and UNESCO site above the Dnipro. The Lower Lavra is free, and the caves underneath still hold the mummified monks who dug them.

Park Of Eternal Glory

A war memorial park above the Dnipro with an eternal flame and a 27 metre obelisk. Free, and on the way to Pechersk Lavra.

St. Andrew’s Church

An 18th century Baroque church at the top of Andriyivskyy Descent, designed by Rastrelli. Free to enter, with an observation deck that's worth the climb on its own.

St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery

Blue walls, golden domes and a view over Podil. Free to walk into, and a two minute walk from the top of the funicular.

St. Volodymyr's Cathedral

Seven blue domes and yellow walls, two minutes from Universytet metro. Free to enter, and the murals inside are the reason to go.

St. Sophia's Cathedral

Kyiv's most visited cathedral and a UNESCO site, with 11th century frescoes and mosaics that survived intact. Climb the bell tower for the best view of the complex.

Pereiaslav Space Church

A 130 year old church housing a unique space museum, not far from Kyiv.
