Andersen Brand Pub

You’ll have to travel out of the centre of Kyiv to the residential district of Holosiivskyi to find this little gem. It recently opened in 2018 and has since become our local pub which we frequent not only for beer, but their wide selection of modern dishes too.

They have their own on-site brewery along with a selection of 6 house beers and generally 2 or 3 seasonal beers like raspberry or pumpkin flavoured for Halloween. If it’s your first visit, we’d recommend ordering the beer set which gives you a small glass of each to sample so you can order the one which most suites your taste buds.

You may recognise the Anderson name from the Danish author Hans Christian Anderson who is famous for writing fairy tales such as “The Little Mermaid, “The Ugly Duckling” and “The Snow Queen”. Each beer has a name connected to something he wrote which makes it all more interesting.

There is a wide selection of modern pub food such as home made crisps and meat plates, chicken strips along with Ukrainian staples such as Borscht and Salo.

They also make a great effort on holidays such as Christmas and Halloween where they decorate the restaurant and dress up in costumes to lighten the holiday mood. If you are in the area, we’d highly recommend giving this place a visit!
