Pavilion 9 (KYT), VDNG, Akademika Hlushkova Avenue Open Every Day

A 4.5 metre cat shouldering its way out of a pavilion wall at VDNH, put there by the bank half the country pays with. Free, outdoors, and a two minute stop.

Top Tip

Pair it with the whale rather than coming out to VDNH for the cat alone

Walk along the side of pavilion 9 at VDNH and you'll find a white cat shouldering its way out of the wall, paws first, wearing the expression of something you've just interrupted. It's the mono cat, the mascot of the bank most people here pay with, and it went up on the KYT pavilion in September 2026.

The numbers are the fun part: the statue is 4.5 metres square, stands 1.2 metres proud of the facade and weighs somewhere around 250 kg. The bureau behind it, balbek, worked only in the colours already on the building rather than in monobank's black, so the tiling runs into the fur instead of stopping at it, and from the path it reads as part of the pavilion rather than as a very large advert.

It's free, it's outside and it's there whenever you are, and the Coffee Lover shop sits directly opposite if you want something to hold while you look at it. It is also, honestly, a two minute stop: the pavilion behind it only opens when there's an event on, so most days you're admiring a wall and then working out where to go next.

Which is why we'd only send you out here if you were coming anyway. Do it as a loop with the Kyiv Whale hanging a few minutes further into the park, and you've half an hour of the oddest free things in Kyiv without paying for a bike or a ticket. Landscape Alley is where the rest of the city's odd sculpture ended up, if you're building a list.
