A 50 metre titanium arch above the Dnipro with the best viewpoint in central Kyiv. Free, always open, and right beside the glass-floored pedestrian bridge.

Motherland Monument

A 62 metre stainless steel statue on top of the war museum, 102 metres tall in all and visible from most of the left bank. If you're 18 and fit you can climb up inside her to the shield.

St. Sophia's Cathedral

Kyiv's most visited cathedral and a UNESCO site, with 11th century frescoes and mosaics that survived intact. Climb the bell tower for the best view of the complex.
